It’s not often here in Cincinnati you can do yard work in shorts and a t-shirt in late October, but that’s just the scene from this past weekend. However, with the daily highs now drifting down to the 50s and overnight lows approaching frost levels, it’s easier to accept there are only 9 weeks left in 2017!
And what a jam-packed 9 weeks it will be. We kick off with Halloween next week, then we have Thanksgiving, and wrap up with end-of-year celebrations and New Year’s Eve. All of this means food, drinks, family, friends, and parties. And while parties are fun, they are work. There’s the pre-party cleaning prep followed by the post-party cleanup.
Parties are also messy, bringing the inevitable spills of food and drink that can be detrimental to your carpet. However, with a little strategy and planning, you can keep the damage to a minimum and keep your carpets looking great.
In our last post on holiday carpet cleaning tips, we talked about preventative strategies, such as using cloth tablecloths and sturdy plates while having light-colored drinks on hand for kids. We also shared our DIY cleaning solution, which is shown to the right. One of the keys to dealing with stains is to treat them as quickly as possible. Our recommended solution uses common household ingredients you likely already have in your kitchen. (Download our carpet cleaning guide.)
Another key to dealing with potential stains is to treat your carpet with a protectant, such as DuPont Teflon, to help repel liquids and dirt which allows your carpets to remain cleaner longer.
With holiday parties just around the corner, I invite you to check out our carpet cleaning specials and let us help get your house ready for the holidays!
