While our Cincinnati Bengals didn’t give us an opportunity to root for them on Sunday, we hope everyone still enjoyed the game with some fabulous food and fun.

Some projections say the average fan consumes 2,400 calories during the game with some staggering statistics on overall consumption. We are talking about more than a billion chicken wings, 11 million pounds of potato chips, and 120 million pounds of avocado. All of which makes for plenty of opportunity for sauce, grease, and guacamole to land on your carpets and upholstery.

If your house is a little worse for wear after hosting friends and family, it’s a good opportunity for professional carpet and upholstery cleaning.

Of course, there are other reasons why now is a good time.

First, as we noted last year, the soft surfaces in your house catch and hold dust, pollen, and pollutants. Experts recommend professional carpet cleaning every six months to control allergens and dust mites. This is especially important during the winter months when windows are sealed and doors are (hopefully) quickly shut.

Another reason why now is a good time to have your carpets cleaned has to do with the snow and ice that hit Cincinnati yesterday morning. While my yard is still covered with snow, the streets and sidewalks are mostly clean thanks to judicious amounts of road salt.

However, what’s good for travel is bad for your carpet. Salt sticks to shoes and inevitably gets tracked into your home leaving stains and crystals that can wear down carpet fibers. The hot water extraction method is ideal for removing stains and debris from your carpets. (For more, see why top carpet manufacturers recommend hot water extraction, and in some cases require, in order to maintain your carpet warranty.)

An added (free) bonus to getting your carpet cleaned now is having it protected from future stains. As part of our process, we apply DuPont Teflon to your carpet. DuPont Teflon repels liquid spills, dust and dirt, allowing carpets to remain cleaner longer. We are currently offering a free application of DuPont Teflon, which is a $75 value. (See details here.)
